Red Cross Classes

  • Lifeguarding Information
    • Class Dates: May 1st - May 24th, 2017
    • Days: Monday and Wednesday
    • Time: 3:30 - 7:30pm
    • Cost: Residents: $120.00/ Non Residents: $130.00*To be able to participate in the Lifegurding class you need be able to pass the pre-test. The pre-test consists of swimming 300 yards continuously demonstrating breathing control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits. Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive, feet-first or head-first to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Exit the water without using the ladder or steps. After the Pre- test is taken $10.00 of the fee is forfeited.*All classes must be attended. If all classes are not attended student may not pass the class*Participants must be at least 15 by the last day of  the class.

 

  • Water Safety Instructor Information
    • Class Dates: May 2 - May 25, 2017
    • Days: Tuesday/Thursday
    • Time: 3:30 - 7:30pm
    • Cost: Resident $120/ Non-Resident $130

    *All participents must pass the pre test before they can participate in the WSI class. The Pretest consisits of : Swim 25 yards of the following strokes in good form: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breast Stroke, Elementary Back Stroke, Side Stroke and Butterfly.

    *After the Pre-test is taken $10.00 of the fee is forfeited.

    *All classes are mandatory. If you do not attend all classes you may not pass the class.

    *Participants Must be 16 by the last day of the class.

 

Boy Scout Merit Badges

Age: 11 years- 17 years

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

*What you will need to bring with you to the class: Swim Trunks, towel, shoes, socks, long pants, belt, and long-sleeved shirt.

**This class will run through all of the requirements that you will need to pass off your merit badge.

Lifesaving Merit Badge

Age: 11 years- 17 years
Cost: Residents $10, Non-Residents $15
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Day: Saturday

*The swimming merit badge must be passed off before you can take lifesaving merit badge class

*All reservations must be made in person at the Parks & Recreation office.
*Ping pong table included in pool rental

  • Residents:
    • Registration Begins: Monday, January 9, 2017
    • Cost: $350 ($150 is required to hold the pool and will be put toward the final fee)
    • Days: Monday - Saturday
    • Time: 7 pm - 10 pm

    Non Residents:

    • Registration Begins: Tuesday, January 17th, 2017
    • Cost: $450 ($150 is required to hold the pool and will be put toward the final fee)
    • Days: Monday - Saturday
    • Time: 7 pm - 10 pm
