FARMINGTON CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT is now accepting applications for a Police Officer I. Applicants must be 21 years of age; POST I CERTIFIED or CURRENTLY ENROLLED in POST, US citizen, H.S. diploma or GED and possess a valid driver's license. Testing will include a physical fitness test, written test, oral board, background check, drug screen and psychological test. Crossing guards play a vital role in the safety of school children and drivers. They also have the opportunity to be a positive influence to the children whom they help to cross Farmington streets before and after school. The Farmington Police Department is seeking additional crossing guards. Applicants must be qualified to direct or escort pedestrians across streets, and stop traffic as necessary. Substitute Crossing Guards

School Crossing Guards provide safe crossings for school children at designated crosswalks within the City of Farmington.
Performs Crossing Guard duties, as follows:
- Observes traffic flow and control devices at busy City street intersections, by looking and listening and using good judgment while escorting school age children across; by walking and giving verbal directions; holding traffic control sign above shoulder height so that is visible to oncoming vehicle drivers.
- Duties are performed in outside locations with an uncontrolled environment.
- Ability to pass a thorough police criminal history background check
May work in any part of the City at any given time, when school is in session. Positions are only compensated when actually called for work. Substitute Crossing Guards are given priority when hiring for Permanent Crossing Guard positions.
Work Schedule: Either one hour in the morning, or, one hour in the afternoon, or both depending on need, Monday – Friday. Must be available before school starting time and when school lets out in the afternoon. Specific hours are dependent on each school/crossing.
